The first visit to our practice starts with filling out the forms. It can be a little bit of a boring part of this process, but it's very necessary because with those forms, we take your health history. We want to make sure that we're informed about your overall health before recommending or providing any dental procedures.
We also take a very thorough dental history because we want to be as informed as possible about any previous dental conditions, treatments, or concerns that you may have. This also gives us an opportunity to start getting to know you.
What is the next step in our process?
The next step in our process is to take any necessary X-rays and make sure that you feel comfortable. We completely understand that a dental visit can make some patients nervous, so we really try to help you relax during those first few minutes.
That gives us an opportunity to establish a good rapport, learn about your concerns, and help your first visit with us go as smoothly as possible.
What happens after your exam?
After your exam, we create a clear treatment plan based on what we've found. We start by looking at your periodontal health, including the health of your gums and the structures supporting your teeth.
The next step is to address any restorative problems you might have, such as decay, broken teeth, fractured teeth, or cracked teeth. After that, we can think about function and aesthetics. These are the general guidelines that we use when prioritizing your dental care.
Your follow-up visits will be scheduled accordingly, and our goal is for you to leave the office with a clear understanding of your oral health, our recommendations, and the next steps in your treatment.
